Barry D. Sheppard

Managing partner Barry D. Sheppard began his legal career in 1976 as a public defender, where he obtained valuable trial experience and developed a penchant for taking on tough cases. He has earned distinction by handling cases that require the most zealous, sophisticated and aggressive representation. He has also stayed at the forefront of criminal defense issues, including advancements in DNA technology and cutting-edge search and seizure issues.

Mr. Sheppard has appeared in courts throughout the country on cases which have received national attention. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, THE legal committee for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Decalogue Society of Lawyers (Judicial Evaluation Committee).

Adam J. Sheppard

Adam J. Sheppard is an aggressive advocate for criminal and civil defendants, and a frequent contributor to publications in the area of criminal law. He has published over 18 articles in different respected legal periodicals and magazines, many of which appear on Westlaw.

As the former co-editor-in-chief of the Young Lawyers Journal of the CBA Record and current editorial board member of the CBA Record as well as a published author in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, he is a recognized contributor to academic writing in the area of criminal defense. He had also served on the editorial board of the American Bar Association's Young Advocates Committee.

He serves as a Federal Defender Panel Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois, whereby federal judges appoint him to represent federal defendants under the Criminal Justice Act. Adam Sheppard has been repeatedly recognized as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers magazine. (Only 2½ percent of all lawyers in the state are named to this list). Adam is also a lifetime member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Constitutional Rights Foundation, the Chicago Bar Association (editorial board of the CBA Record and former Director of the Criminal Law Committee for YLS/CBA), the Illinois State Bar Association, the legal committee of NORML and the Decalogue Society of Lawyers (elected as an officer).
